Lateral Support

Lateral support projects typically entail providing support to retain soil and/or rock in excavations for various purpose including road cuttings, basement excavations, large foundation excavations, bridge widenings, bulk earthworks platforms, pits, box cuts, highwalls etc. Lateral support systems employed include passive systems utilizing soil nails and rock bolts with a reinforced shotcrete facing, cantilevered pile walls as well as active systems utilizing multiple rows of post-tensioned ground anchors often installed in conjunction with a pile wall (secant or soldier pile wall). Temporary as well as permanent lateral support solutions are provided depending on the project specific needs.

Sub-contractor. Turnkey solution for lateral support and piling for foundation works on two basement levels, totaling over 660 piles and 600m2 reinforced gunnite arching, structural piles ranging between 450mm to 1200mm diameter of various depths up to 13m

Barrowdale Brooke BioKube – Sewer Plant

Brooke Biokube sewer plant and emergency storage dam – complicated civils, working underwater constructing concrete chambers, comprising of lateral support systems, piling, dewatering, pipe works and pump systems.

GDI Highwall

Main Contractor. Repairs to the collapsed high wall including lateral support drilling and anchor installation, installation of arching and filling of void from where collapse occurred on portals 1 & 2.

Zimplats Silo – Religning 1

Sub-contractor. Relining of 35m high silo using nail anchors, hanging mesh, and shotcrete application.

Zimplats Silo – Religning 2

Main Contractor. Relining of 7500t silo to 70MPa design strength using nail anchors, hanging mesh, and shotcrete application using sky jacks.
